In September of 2022, Angi & Austin exchanged vows among redwoods and their loved ones in Woodside, California.
As an assistant photographer, I first met the couple while they got ready with their bridal parties. Inside the bridal suite cabin, the air was filled with the sounds of laughter, clinking champagne flutes, and upbeat music. Angi wore a smile as she sipped from her glass, and it took only seconds for me to know for certain it was going to be a beautiful day.
Angi carried this smile throughout the day, but it shined brightest during their ceremony. Just as all the guests arrived, rain started to fall across the meadow with no space to move the ceremony indoors. While most others in Angi & Austin’s position would’ve been disheartened, Angi, Austin, and their guests refused to let a few showers dampen their day. The maid of honor and best man, soaked already, held umbrellas over their nearlywed best friends as raindrops pattered to the officiant’s words. The couple exchanged a few subtle chuckles with each other, an unspoken agreement to embrace the moment. As guests’ lawn chairs sunk into the softened grass and soil, not a single person took their eyes off Angi & Austin.
Against the backdrop of unrelenting showers, Angi & Austin’s magnetism and levity stayed long after the rain had stopped. After drying off and changing, the newlyweds laughed along to wholesome speeches and fed each other bites of their towering wedding cake. As the night went on, the dance floor came alive. Lights flashed, music pulsed, and guests filled the room to dance the night away.
Neither Angi, Austin, nor anyone else could have predicted the rain that day—it hadn’t rained in months. But watching Angi & Austin embrace the unexpected filled me with warmth as they embark on the rest of their lives together. I hope this day becomes a cherished chapter in their ever-growing love story. I feel so lucky to have played even a small part in it.
